horse The Hilton Herbs New Forest Heavy Horse Relay : "The Beer Run"

The second Hilton Herbs New Forest Heavy horse Relay event will take place over three days in July.

Based at Harbridge Farm, Near Ringwood, Hants there will be six teams made up of seven heavy horses that will compete as three pairs and a single.

The competition opens on Friday 16th July at Harbridge Farm, with a driven skills test and a timber handling competition. On Saturday 17th July in the morning, one pair from each team will compete in the dressage section and in the afternoon one pair and the single from each team will complete a six obstacle marathon around Harbridge Farm. Spectators are welcome at Harbridge Farm on the Friday and Saturday.

Sunday 18th July is the Relay around the New Forest, covering some of the most beautiful countryside in the area. Each relay vehicle will carry a beer barrel which must travel the whole route. The Relay starts at approximately 8a.m at the Fighting Cocks, Godshill, Fordingbridge. The teams will then travel through the Forest from Pub to Pub, completing the nine stages and covering some 60 miles. This will be an excellent opportunity for members of the public to capture the atmosphere of this colourful event, see a wide variety of both British and French Heavy horse breeds in harness, and enjoy a refreshing drink at each of the pubs visited!

The last stage will start from the Alice Lisle Inn at Rockford and return to Harbridge Farm through the Somerley Estate. The Chris Zeuner Perpetual Challenge Trophy and Hilton Herbs and Badminton Horse Feeds awards will be presented to the winning team at Harbridge Farm at the end of the Relay section on Sunday afternoon.

The High Corner Inn, Nr Linwood.

Milkham Car Park.

The Royal Oak at Fritham.

Janesmoor Pond.

Mogshade.

The Redshoot Inn at Linwood.

The Royal Oak at North Gorley.

The Alice Lisle at Rockford.
