Equine Science Weekends in exquisite setting

The new location of the Open College of Equine Studies offers a superb venue for relaxing and learning more about horses. Now based on the Boxted Estate in the Glem Valley near Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk in the grounds of a 14th Century moated baronial hall, the college provides the perfect setting for a short course in equine science.

Our Weekend courses are suitable for students, professionals in the equestrian sphere and horse-owners who have a particular interest in the topics covered.

Equine Stud Management, 13th & 14th September, will be led by Dr Nicky Holdstock BA, MA, Vet.MB, PhD, Cert.EM. (Stud Med), LVI, MRCVS.

Equine Therapies, 20th & 21st September, combines class-room based lectures with practical ‘hands-on’ sessions with qualified practitioners.

Equine Behaviour and Welfare, 11th & 12th October, will be led by Dr. Amanda Badnell-Waters BSc, MSc, PhD, the college’s newly appointed Head of Equine Higher Education and Postgraduate Education and will comprise a range of lectures and practical activities including behavioural problems and their management. Equine Behavioural Therapist Cathy Tindall will demonstrate ‘join-up’ techniques.

Course fees are £245 per person for enrolled TOCES students and £285 for non-TOCES students and include lunch, dinner, drinks and accommodation on the Saturday and breakfast and lunch on the Sunday.

Apply to the office for full timetables and booking forms.
