ELLENVILLE, NY (July 24, 2001)-The annual Kids Day at HITS Catskills horse show in Ellenville, New York, will be held on Sunday, July 29 from 11am to 1pm. Children 12 and under will be admitted free to the show grounds and treated to two hours of fun and festivities followed by the $100,000 Cosequin® Grand Prix show jumping event and an Autograph Signing Session with the Grand Prix riders. Spectators are also invited to attend the Southlands Foundation Benefit Luncheon from 1pm to 3pm in the VIP tent overlooking the Grand Prix ring. To pre-purchase Benefit Luncheon tickets, call Southlands at 845-876-4862. Tickets for the luncheon will also be available at the show grounds. The line-up of free Kids Day activities includes: Pony Rides - Nevele Saddle Club Caricatures - A Cartoon For You Balloons and Face Painting - A Rascally Clown Bouncy House and Sand Art -Party's "R" Us Kidcare ID Program - Ulster County Sheriff's Office Petting Zoo - Catskill Mountain Llamas Smokey the Bear - Dept. of Environmental Conservation Freddy the Fire truck - Ulster County Fire Department Summer Safety Booth - Ellenville Hospital Hundreds of free prizes will be given away at Kids Day, donated by the following local companies: Catskill Corners Jeto's Ballpark Zoom Flume Stone Ridge Horseman Delaware & Ulster Rail Ride Town Tinker Tube Ride Ellenville Burger King Ellenville McDonalds Ellenville Pizza Hut D'Lites Ice Cream NY Renaissance Faire Dunkin Donuts Autograph Session Following the Kids Day festivities, children and their families are invited to stay for the highlight of HITS Catskills IV, the $100,000 Cosequin® Grand Prix at 2 pm. The Grand Prix ring features world-class show jumping riders competing for high-stakes prize money. Following the victory lap, a table will be set up in the Grand Prix ring for the Autograph Signing Session. Kids and their parents will be allowed to walk the course, see the jumps up close, and meet the Grand Prix riders--they can have their pictures taken with the stars of show jumping and get their programs and souvenirs signed too! The Southlands Foundation Benefit Luncheon The Southlands Foundation of Rhinebeck, New York, is hosting an afternoon under the VIP tent with lunch included for the $100,000 Cosequin Grand Prix on July 29, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The luncheon will be catered by "Julia and Isabella's" of Red Hook, New York. The sale of tables and half-tables will help support the Southlands Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to provide education in horsemanship for the young and old. Funds also assist in the restoration of the South Barn, which provides a retirement home for horses and houses rescued large animals. Tables are $300 and seat eight people, 1/2 tables for four are $150. The HITS Catskills horse show grounds are open Wednesday through Sunday, 8am to approximately 5pm. Parking is free Wednesday through Sunday on the show grounds. Admission is free Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday admission is $5 per person, children under 12 free. Admission proceeds benefit local charities. DIRECTIONS: From the North: New York State Thruway (Rt. 87) South to Kingston Exit 19, then West on Rt. 209 to Ellenville. Go through town-show grounds are on left after entrance to Nevele Grande. From the South: New York State Thruway (Rt. 87) North to Harriman Exit 16 onto Rt. 17 (Quickway) to Exit 113. Turn right on Rt. 209, travel approximately 10 miles--show grounds on right. From the East: I-84 West to Rt. 17. West to Exit 113. Turn right on Rt. 209.
