horse AHSA DIRECTORS MEET, NAME OF ORGANIZATION CHANGED

Directors of the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) met in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 and acting as the Voting Members of the corporation, voted to change the Certificate of Incorporation to reflect a new name: USA Equestrian, Inc.

The name change was adopted following a presentation by the AHSA consultants (Helikon Media of Atlanta, Georgia), and lengthy debate and discussion. Of the 46 directors in attendance, 8 opposed the change. The meeting was available for monitoring by the AHSA's entire membership via the first-ever Internet web-cast of such a meeting.

The Helikon presentation, as well as remarks delivered by AHSA president Alan F. Balch, are available at http://www.ahsa.org/EquestrianGovernance/index.html

The American Horse Shows Association, as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the AHSA has over 70,000 members and recognizes more than 2,600 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
