Equine Welfare Centre Reopens to the Public

Glenda Spooner Farm, the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, at Hoarwithy, nr Hereford will be re-opening its doors to the public on Saturday 30 June, subject to any new cases of foot and mouth in the area.

The equine welfare centre has been closed to the public since the restrictions on the movement of livestock were imposed at the beginning of the foot and mouth outbreak.

Comments Dee White, Centre Manager, "We are very pleased that there have been no new cases of foot and mouth in the surrounding area since the end of April, which has allowed us to reopen again after a four month closure.

"Not only does it mean that we will be able to welcome the public through our doors once again, but horses and ponies that are ready to go to their loan homes will go out, thus freeing valuable space for new welfare cases."

Entry to Glenda Spooner Farm is free and the public are invited to come and see the rescued horses and ponies, watch the antics of Satin the new born foal and to visit the gift shop.

The Centre is open Saturdays and Wednesday from 11 am – 4 pm.
