Seven Companies Sponsor 2003 Arabian Sport Horse Nationals

Primedia Business Magazines and Media plus six other companies will sponsor the Sport Horse Arabian and Half-Arabian National Championship Show, which will be held at the Virginia Horse Park in Lexington, Virginia, on September 17-21, 2003. It is the only national single breed competition focusing specifically on the sport horse disciplines with 63 classes for Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses in sport horse in-hand and under-saddle, dressage and hunter/jumper.

Primedia has partnered with Sport Horse Nationals with three of its publications as division sponsors. The Arabian Horse World is the Sport Horse Division Sponsor, Dressage Today is the Dressage Division Sponsor and Practical Horseman is the Hunter Classic Title Sponsor. As part of this sponsor partnership, AHA is receiving advertising in all three publications.

The following companies are Award Sponsors:
Schneider’s Saddlery, the Hunter Classic and Jumper Mini-Prix Award Sponsor, is donating a saddle for champion, a bridle for reserve champion and coolers for the top ten of both special competitions.

Paint Rock Designs is the Supreme Champion Sport Horse Award Sponsor. They are donating a Paint Rock Designs “Turtle NeckSM” horse blanket for the champion and a fleece cooler, insulated English saddle carry case and double bridle carry case for the reserve champion.

Freedman Harness is the Hunt Seat Equitation Not to Jump ATR Award Sponsor and will donate a hunter style bridle for the champion.

Arabian Saddle Company, an AHA Corporate Partner, is Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences ATR Award Sponsor and will donate a hunter style bridle for the champion.

Bennett Fine Jewelry is the FEI Dressage top Arabian Awards Sponsor. A Bennett-designed gold pendant will be awarded to the highest placing Arabian in each of the four FEI level Dressage classes--Prix St. Georges, Intermediate I, Intermediate II and Grand Prix.

The Gorgeous Horse is FEI Dressage Top Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Awards Sponsor. They will also create a gold pendant to be awarded to the highest placing Half-Arabian or Anglo-Arabian in each of the four FEI level Dressage classes.

In addition for each class, champions, reserves and top tens will receive Gladys B. Edwards horse trophies, garlands, plaques and ribbons appropriate for those placings.

Seventy percent of the total paid class entry fees will go into the prize money for each class. Seventy-five percent of this payback will be divided among the top ten horses, with 15 percent going to the champion and 10 percent to the reserve champion.

For the first Sport Horse Nationals, qualifications will be waived for hunter/jumpers and sport horses so that horses currently showing in open circuits can participate. Dressage horses will be required to use those nationals qualifications that are already in place. All horses need to be Arabians, Half-Arabians or Anglo-Arabians registered with AHA or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. Both rider and owner need to be AHA members. For more information on dressage qualifications, check the 2003 AHA Handbook or contact AHA at 303-696-4500.

AHA is a 40,000 member equine association that registers and maintains a database of more then one million Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses. It administers more than $4 million in annual prize money, produces national events, maintains official event records, recognizes more than 400 Arabian horse shows and distance rides and provides activities and programs that promote breeding and ownership. For information about Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian horses, call 303-696-4500, e-mail info@ArabianHorses.org or visit www.ArabianHorses.org.
