To Sponsor Pony Club Tetrathlon
|
Farlows
of Pall Mall, the brand that has for over 160 years been synonymous
with the ultimate in fly-fishing tackle, shooting accessories and
country clothing has announced that it is to be the title sponsor
of the Pony Club Tetrathlon Championships in 2002 and for the following
two years.
The
Tetrathlon is one of the most popular of The Pony Clubs competitive
disciplines combining cross-country riding with running, shooting
and swimming. Although it was originally introduced as a competition
solely for boys, there are now separate competitions for boys and
girls. The classes are divided into three sections Seniors / Open
(15 to 21), Juniors (12 to 14) and Minimus (11 and below).
Based
on the concept of Modern Pentathlon, Steph Cook and Kate Allenby,
Gold and Bronze Sydney Olympic medallists respectively, are both
graduates from The Pony Club Tetrathlon.
The
Championship is being held at Moreton Morrell, Warwickshire from
16th to 18th August 2002 with the swimming phase being held at nearby
Warwick University. Qualifying for the Championships takes place
at 17 Regional Competitions.
Richard
Lisney, Marketing and PR Manager for Farlows, said This is
a perfect sponsorship for us, the Farlows brand appeals to both
men and women and to those who have a keen interest in a variety
of country pursuits. This exactly mirrors the structure and competitors
in The Tetrathlon.
