horse Jaycee Juleps & Jockeys Gala To Benefit Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center

RALEIGH, NC – A traditional event for the Brookhill Steeplechase is a gala to celebrate the thrill of the chase and to benefit a local organization. This year, the Raleigh Jaycees Brookhill Steeplechase Juleps & Jockeys Gala has chosen to benefit the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Juleps & Jockeys Gala will be held at Exploris in downtown Raleigh from 6:00 - 11:00 pm on Friday, May 4, one day prior to the Jaycees' Brookhill Steeplechase. Tickets to this black-tie gala are $100 per person and are tax deductible. Doors open at 6:00 pm and dancing will begin at 8:00 pm.

Activities at Juleps & Jockeys will include dancing to the Moonlighters, a live and silent auction, and heavy hors d'oeuvres. The live auction will include a Bob Timberlake print worth approximately $3500, a basketball autographed by the ACC Championship Duke basketball team, and a coffee table book signed by Duke basketball coach Mike K.

To order tickets, contact Jeannie Beeston at 468-5879, order on-line at www.brookhillsteeplechase.com/gala or send an e-mail to brookhillgala@yahoo.com. Ticket sales will end on May 1st or when 500 tickets have been sold. Tickets will be available at the door as space allows.

The Raleigh Jaycees, chartered in 1932, is a 450+ member civic-minded group of men and women ranging in ages from twenty-one to thirty-nine. The Raleigh Jaycees are an affiliate organization of the N.C. Junior Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Junior Chamber International. The Jaycee movement began in 1921 as a commitment to leadership development for young adults, and is known worldwide as a training ground for community leaders.
