Show Jumping Hall of Fame Extends Deadline For Horse Shows To Join Jumper Classic Series

Tampa, FL—March 15, 2002—The Show Jumping Hall of Fame has extended the deadline for horse shows wishing to host events on the 2002 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series to May 31.

This year, for the first time, the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series will offer separate Series for amateur-owner jumpers and for junior jumpers. Furthermore, the standings in these two Series will be used to determine which amateur-owner jumpers and which junior jumpers will qualify to ride in the 2002 National Horse Show.

Because of the significance of this, some horse shows expressed interest in joining the Series after the original deadline had passed. In the best interest of the sport, the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Board of Directors felt it best to give horse shows more time to finalize their decisions.

Horse shows wishing to host classes on the Series must meet all Series specifications including designating in their prize lists that their class or classes are part of the Series.

Some of the other key specifications include that:

· Each class on the Series should offer prize money of at least $5,000 and be the featured Amateur-Owner class, Junior class or Junior/Amateur-Owner class at the horse show.

· Only running martingales, used in the conventional manner, will be permitted. Standing martingales draw reins, or restricting martingales are prohibited.

· Whether or not stabling is provided, all horses competing must be on the grounds a minimum of three hours prior to the scheduled start of the class and must remain on the grounds until they are done competing.

· The course must include one double and one triple combination (or three doubles).

· Horses competing in the Grand Prix and/or classes that count toward the USET computer rankings of a horse show hosting a Show Jumping Hall of Fame class may not compete in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame class at that horse show and this restriction must be printed in the prize list.

· Member events will be required to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Show Jumping Hall of Fame (a 501(c)3 charity) of $15 per entry.

Full information about the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, including all requirements associated with hosting a series event, is available on the Show Jumping Hall of Fame website at www.showjumpinghalloffame.net. .
