Versatile
horses to show practical talents at APHA's first Paint
Ranch Horse Round Up
|
FORT
WORTH, Texas-Long before equestrian centers and sports arenas
became popular venues for showcasing the talents of horses
in America, cattle ranches were the proving grounds for
good mounts. Herding, sorting, penning and roping cattle,
in addition to keeping them moving from ranches to markets,
were jobs only for the best riders and their horses. It
gave new meaning to the word "teamwork," because
man and animal had to learn to work as one. Riders were
rugged, experienced and intuitive about horses and cattle.
"Versatile" became the choice adjective to describe
the best ranch horses.

Javlin
Proved Their Point at BETA
Exhibiting
at BETA 2004 proved to be successful for Javlin Outdoor
Clothing with many retailers either placing orders or
opening accounts.
Catching
the eye of visitors was the Ladies Fitted Superfleece
worn by Andrea and Nicki, the two models who were sporting
the Fluorescent Yellow version.. Javlin Superfleece
is a highly technical fabric developed by knitting the
cloth in a special manufacturing process, using a high
density of fibres to produce a more compact construction.
The fleece is completely breathable and allows moisture
vapour to pass easily through the fabric. Due to the
technical finish, the surface is very durable and, combined
with DWR (durable water repellent), gives a high degree
of water resistance. It therefore gives the wearer a
highly wind resistant, water repellent garment with
enhanced drape properties.

Saddle
Up Gallops On!
Over
the past three and a half years, Spinal Research and the
equestrian community have been working together to fight
paralysis. Thanks to everyone involved, the Saddle-Up Campaign
has raised over £165,000 since its launch in 2000
to help pioneer the repair of injuries to the spinal cord.
Karen
Tierney, Campaigns Fundraiser at Spinal Research says: Support
from the equestrian world for our Saddle-Up Campaign has
been fantastic! Lots of fun has been had at many different
types of events. Money raised and donated by our supporters
has provided vital income for Spinal Research and helped
to publicise our work to fight paralysis
As
horse enthusiasts you know how devastating a serious riding
fall can be. You may even know someone who has been paralysed
by a riding accident or more than likely someone
who has had a lucky escape. Its a very scary thought,
but spinal cord injury could happen to any one of us. More
than 40,000 people in the UK are paralysed as a result of
damage to the spinal cord, usually victims of road accidents,
sporting accidents or falls, and hundreds join them every
year.

Arabian
Might
For
almost thirty-years Lesley Dunn has experienced the
trials and tribulations of running and maintaining Warrens
Hill Arabians where she has been breeding, for performance,
pure and part-bred Arabians.
Having always enjoyed her work it was when her local
feed merchants began stocking a new feed range that
competitive success truly began. Making an informed
choice - having read the accompanying literature on
the feeds - Lesley opted to give the Allen & Page
feeds a try and started her mares and youngsters on
Stud Pencils. Since deciding to make the switch she
has never felt the need to try another brand.
Buoyed by the positive results she was seeing in the
condition of the mares and youngsters, Lesley felt encouraged
to delve deeper into the range. Please
