2004 59th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show

Dressage Week
April 29 – May 2

DEL MAR Fairgrounds – “Dressage Week” begins on April 29 in the Arena at the Equestrian Center, on the Del Mar Fairgrounds and will be highlighted by an Evening of Musical Freestyles, May 1st at 7:00pm, showcasing the freestyle portion of the USET Qualifying Competition for the USET Grand Prix Championship/Olympic Selection Trials. Also featured on Sunday afternoon are the Freestyles for the USET Qualifying Classes for the USEF Intermediaire Championship and the Prix St. Georges Freestyles for the Region 7 Young Rider Selection Trials.

Planning to compete is the 2003 World Cup Champion, Debbie McDonald, who was the winner of the Saturday evening competition last year with an impressive 81.5%. Other top competitors expected are past Olympic medal winners, Guenter Seidel, Steffan Peters and Hilda Gurney, as well as Pan American Medalists, Kristina Harrison-Naness and Jan Ebelling.

“We are so fortunate at Del Mar,” explained Dressage Division Manager, Regina Antonioli, “to have the opportunity to see literally, the best in the world.”

The 59th Annual Del Mar National Horse Show is a three-week Equestrian Extravaganza.

Del Mar National’s Western Week runs April 22nd to April 25th, and features 4 AQHA/PCQHA Shows

Split/Combined, a Youth State Qualifier, PCHA Open Horse Show, NRHA Reining Show. Friday night’s Western Showcase also hosts the Sliding Contest and Triple Crown Feed’s Challenge of the Breeds.

Hunter/Jumper Week runs May 4 – May 9th and features the $75,000 HBO Grand Prix of Del Mar an AGA Event, on Saturday, May 8th at 7 p.m. Hunter/Jumper Week is U.S. EQUESTRIAN & PCHA “AA” Rated, offers an American Hunter-Jumper Foundation World Championship Qualifier, Marshall & Sterling League Hunter/Jumper Classics, West Coast Challenge Hunter Breeding, West Coast Active Riders Spruce Meadows Selection Trials, North American Young Riders Selection Trial, and USET, and NAL competition. Highlights of the week include the $10,000 Mary’s Tack & Feed Power and Speed Grand Prix Qualifier on Tuesday, May 4th at 7 p.m., $25,000 Surfside Grand Prix on Thursday, May 6th at 7 p.m., $25,000 Del Mar National Open Equitation Championship on Friday, May 7th at 7 p.m., and the $25,000 California Junior/Amateur Show Jumping Championship on Sunday, May 9th.

The Del Mar National Horse Show at the Fairgrounds Equestrian Center is a nationally recognized venue renown for its competition, excitement, pageantry and picturesque location. The event is one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious annual equestrian shows in the United States, attracting hundreds of North America’s finest horses and riders who compete in three distinct disciplines with more than $300,000 in prize money at stake.

The Del Mar Arena seats 5,000. Weekday admission to the Del Mar National Horse Show is free from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
