Coriano Top-Ranked
Sire in Sleswig-Holstein
According
to a new study, CORIANO (Corrado I x Lord), the sire of Morningside
Stud's jumping sensation CONDIO (Coriano x Landgraf I), is the #1-ranked
sire in the German state of Sleswig-Holstein.
This result
is based on an analysis by the state's agriculture department of
thousands of offspring sired by 95 stallions servicing mares in
Sleswig-Holstein (source: www.lk-sh.de). Coriano
and the dressage stallion Carpaccio (Caretino x Lantaan) both received
overall breeding value (bv) scores of 145, placing them at the pinnacle
and above well-known but older sires such as Acord II (bv 125),
Caretino (bv 130), Contender (bv 137), and Quidam de Revel (bv 111).
A breeding value score of 145, for example, means that the stallion's
breeding value is 45% above the value of the average sire in the
analysis. .

Hunters
Fly Off Band
Itll
soon be that time of year when flies, midges, ticks and all
sorts of other horrid things start to make your horses
life itchy and miserable throughout the summer months, so
this brand new product from Hunter Horsecare is really welcome.
Hunters
Fly Off Band is a splendidly simple idea to bring relief during
the warmer months: it fits neatly onto the existing head collar
or bridle and is fully adjustable to be as comfy and as non-snag
as possible. Quick-release Velcro fastening ensures that it
fits easily and snugly, offering welcome protection to those
vulnerable areas around the mouth, nose, ears and eyes, which
get really irritated.
|
The Fly Off Band
brings relief for more than a few short weeks, too, as its refillable.
This makes it very effective and affordable, because you only use
as much repellent solution as you need at any one time, so its
ideal for any climate. Hunters fly repellent solution has a
slow release action, is clean and effective, and helps to deter all
disease carrying flies and insects while soothing the discomfort of
minor skin irritations and bites. Its long lasting action means that
it is also very effective around stables and in horse boxes.

National
Disability Sports Alliance Seeks Horses To Prepare For 2004
Paralympic Gamers In Athens
|
KINGSTON, RIFebruary
4, 2002The National Disability Sports Alliance (NDSA) invites
horse-owners to make their competitive horses available for use by
the countrys top riders who have a disability, with an eye towards
competing in the next Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece in
2004.
Many of the nations leading riders with a disability do not
have a quality dressage horse to ride consistently, limiting their
ability to succeed at the highest levels of international competition.
Just as horse-owners develop partnerships with the nations best
able-bodied riders, and then see their horses ride for medals in the
Olympic Games, owners can do the same for our nations top riders
who have a disability.

Are There Bugs In Your
Customer Service?
Did you know that according to studies by the US
Consumer Affairs Department, TARP, and General Electric:
~ It costs fives times as much to get a new customer as it does to
bring back an existing customer.
~ The longer you keep a customer, the more money you will make.
~ Only 2-4% of dissatisfied customers ever complain about a bad experience,
they just leave and most likely do business with your competitors.
~ Word-of-mouth has a large role in consumer decisions, two times
more than advertising. Negative word-of-mouth is very damaging since
dissatisfied customers are usually more vocal than satisfied customers.
Bad experiences are relayed to 10-20 others, three times more than
good experiences.
Sit and think for a few minutes. I'll bet that you can come up with
a list of places that you'll "never go back there again because."
Think some more and list the places that you can say, "They went
above and beyond when." You're well on your way to discovering
what's behind winning and losing customer service strategies.

Protective toe cap compartment. |
Safety
riding boots explained by Nico Katan.
As
the manufacturer of Equitector safety riding boots, I am frequently
questioned by fellow riders about the safety aspects of steel
toe capped riding boots and when I ask their about their opinion,
their first reaction mostly is;
" Oh no, I have heard so many rumours about accidents
with that type of boot. They chop your toes off". Unfortunately
there is truth in these rumours.
|
Few footwear designers
are involved in equestrian activities and therefore are unlikely to
familiar with the type of exposure to risk we riders are likely to
encounter.
Under safety
legislation all safety footwear including steel toe capped riding
boots must be CE marked and licensed. In order to achieve such status
boots need to pass about 30 rigorous tests. But most riding boot manufacturers
who produced safety products in the past, are unfamiliar with safety
matters and did not feel the need for compliance with the regulations.
For that reason several safety riding boots which were substandard
by design, entered the market.
Most designers
felt, incorrectly so, that by simply inserting a steel toe cap in
their conventional riding boot was sufficient to give the rider adequate
foot protection.
It is for that
reason that in the past so many accidents have taken place with safety
riding boots. In comparison, the Equitector product has been designed
to withstand this type of accident and their products have enjoyed
a 10 year unblemished safety record.

Rein-Aid
Productions
Rein-Aid
Productions has increased its product line to include cotton
web and braided reins to the list of Elasto-Reins available.
The patented design keeps the contact soft between the rider's
hand and the horse's mouth, while a leather loop limits the
stretch of elastic for control and safety. With recommendations
and unpaid endorsements from such Olympic Stars as Hilda Gurney,
David & Karen O'Connor and James Wofford, it's clear that
Rein-Aid is of great benefit to horse and rider.
