Important Dates for 2001

The Eriskay Pony Society will be holding its AGM at Perth Mart on 21st April 2001. Anybody interested in learning more about this rare and historic breed is very welcome to come along. For further details contact Mary McGillivray, Chairman Tel: 01764 670626.

The Eriskay Pony Society Annual Breed Show will be held at Tullibole Fish Farm, Crook of Devon on Sunday 20th May 2001. Classes will include dressage, young handlers, handy pony, jumping, showing under saddle and in hand with sections for lead rein, novice and open ponies. There will also be a judge training seminar on the day with a number of ponies used to demonstrate the true characteristics of the Eriskay pony. Southern Eriskay Pony Owners will hold their show on SUNDAY 19th AUGUST 2001 at FAY COTTAGE FARM, FAYGATE LANE, FAYGATE, HORSHAM. WEST SUSSEX. Classes include showing, show jumping, handy pony and young handlers. For details and schedules contact: Maxine Harwood Tel: 01293 851079

Classes for Eriskay Ponies will also be held at the NPS “Woolly Pony” show at Devon Leisure , Alloa on 7th April, and also at the NPS summer show on 9th June. For details contact Fiona Roebuck, Tel: 01764 664327

Ponies will also be seen competing around the country in the BSPS Heritage Mountain and Moorland Series.

Eriskay Classes at the Royal Highland Show will take place this year on Friday 22nd June and there will be a special demonstration of Eriskay ponies and their versatility at this year’s Blair Castle Horse Trials and Country Fair in August

The Eriskay Pony Society exists to promote and protect Britain’s rarest breed of pony. It provides a support service to owners and breeders, providing back up wherever necessary.
