Lake Placid Horse Shows Return To The Adirondacks June 25- July 6

Lake Placid, NY–January 27, 2003–The Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows return to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, June 25 – July 6, 2003 at their fabulous horse show facility at the North Elba Showgrounds in Lake Placid.

The Lake Placid Horse Shows include two AGA Grandprix Series events, the $50,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid on Sunday, June 29, which will be televised on Outdoor Life Network (OLN), and the $50,000 Hermés I Love New York Grandprix on Saturday, July 5.

Special features of the 2003 Lake Placid Horse Shows also include two Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic series events for junior riders and amateur/owner riders. The Salamander Farm High Junior Jumper Classic and Mirror Lake Inn Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic both take place on Sunday, June 29 at the Lake Placid Horse Show. The Salamander Farm High Junior Jumper Classic and the Golden Arrow Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic take place on Saturday, July 5 at the I Love New York Horse Show. The standings on the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series will determine which junior riders and which amateur/owner riders will qualify to ride in the 2003 National Horse Show in Wellington, FL.

Ariat Kids Day will be held on Friday, June 27 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. This event, available to the first 100 applicants affiliated with a club at a cost of $5 per child, is an educational and fun event with activities such as stable tour, jumper course walk, farrier visit, and question-and-answer seminar on safety in and out of the ring. There will also be a raffle, giveaways, and an autograph session.

The 2003 Lake Placid Horse Show schedule also includes classes such as the Whiteface Mountain Open Jumper class on Thursday, June 26; the Lake Placid Resort North American League (NAL) Open Stake and the Turtle Lane Farm Open Jumper Welcome Stake on Friday, June 27; the 1.45m Hilton Lake Placid Resort Open Jumper Stake on Saturday, June 28 and finishing the week at the Lake Placid Horse Show is the Juliam Farm Lead Line and C.M. Hadfield’s Saddlery Parade of Champions on Sunday, June 29, prior to the $50,000 Budweiser Grand Prix of Lake Placid. As well as the premier events on Sunday, June 29 in the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, there is also a full day of Hunter Classics in the Hunter Ring.

The 2003 I Love New York Horse Shows schedule includes the Phelps School Open Stake on Wednesday, July 2; the Placid Resort Open Speed Stake and the Pin Oak Farm Open Jumper Welcome Stake on Thursday, July 3; the Nicola’s Restaurants Open Jumper class on Friday, July 4; and the WIHS Adult Amateur Jumper Classic as well as the WIHS Children’s Jumper Classic on Sunday, July 6. Both of these events are member events of the WIHS Championship series and these classes will count as bonus points towards the Championships held at the Washington International Horse Show. Also, Sunday July 6 will feature the Kathy Scholl Equitation Championship as well as the Pony Hunter Classic. Additionally, there will be numerous hunter and equitation divisions. Summer in the Adirondacks has become a yearly tradition for many North American equestrians. Riders enjoy the Adirondack Mountain region and the great recreational opportunities it offers. Fishing, swimming, golfing, hiking, canoeing, camping, and biking can all be enjoyed just a few steps away from the horse shows. There are tour boats to guide through the waters of beautiful Lake Placid. Visitors can take the Olympic tour to view all the sites from the 1980 Winter Olympics. Right in Lake Placid is the Verizon Sports Complex, a multi-sports facility training and competition site for world-class cross country skiing, biathlon, bobsled, skeleton and luge athletes. Visitors can watch training year round and can take a Trolley Tour of the complex. There are also many fun activities that occur right on the show grounds, such as the annual Doggie Costume Contest.
