Lake Placid, NY –January 21, 2002–The Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse
Shows return to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains June 26 – July 7, 2002 at
the North Elba Showgrounds in Lake Placid.
The Lake Placid Horse Shows include two AGA Grandprix Series events, the
$50,000 Budweiser Grandprix of Lake Placid on Sunday, June 30, which will be
televised on ESPN, and the $50,000 I Love New York Grandprix on Saturday,
July 6.
Special features of the 2002 Lake Placid Horse Shows include Show Jumping
Hall of Fame Jumper Classic series events for junior riders and
amateur/owner riders on Sunday, June 30 (Lake Placid Horse Show) and
Saturday, July 6 (I Love New York Horse Show), respectively. The standings
on the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series will determine which

2002 National Horse Show.
Horse Club Junior Day will be held on Friday, June 28 from 9:00 am to 12:30
pm. This event, available to the first 100 applicants at a cost of $5 per
child, is an educational and fun event with activities such as stable tour,
jumper course walk, farrier visit, and question-and-answer seminar on safety
in and out of the ring. There will also be a raffle, giveaways, and an
autograph session.
The schedule also includes the $10,000 Amateur-Owner Grandprix, the $10,000
Junior Jumper Grandprix, North American League (NAL) and Adult/Children's
Jumper Events. Additionally, there will be numerous hunter and equitation
divisions including World Championship Hunter Rider Classes and Hunter

“We are looking forward to a spectacular showing of world-class competition
during the Lake Placid Horse Shows this summer,” said Richard Feldman,
chairman of the Lake Placid Horse Show Association.
Summer in the Adirondacks has become a yearly tradition for many North
American equestrians. Riders enjoy the Adirondack Mountain region and the
great recreational opportunities it offers. Fishing, swimming, hiking,
canoeing, camping, and biking can all be enjoyed just a few steps away from
the horse shows. Plus, many fun activities occur right on the show grounds,
such as the annual Doggie Costume Contest.
